Animate first and last character

Hi,

Does anyone have a tutorial or a template perhaps of how to animate the first and last character?

For example, I'd like to animate "ABCDEFG".

AG would be the first thing you see on the screen, then the distance between AG gets bigger and the letters in the middle fade in.

So the result would be:

1st frame: AG

2nd-last: ABCDEFG
